The concerned stakeholder of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Nasarawa state have rejected the adoption of a particular aspirant as the party’s candidate ahead of the forthcoming primaries.
During a Press Conference in Lafia, the state capital, the leader of the concern elders, youths and the grassroots mobilizers of the PDP Mr. Jibrin Idris Ibrahim said, the so-called adoption by the former chairman of the party Mr. Francis Orogu is undemocratic and does not reflect the will of their party members in the state.
According to him, the unfortunate and misleading development is threatens the unity, fairness and internal democracy of the PDP in nasarawa state.
Mr. Jibrin Idris Ibrahim also appeal to the state working committee of the PDP to disregard any move and re-affirmed their commitment to providing a level playing field for all aspirants to continue with their consultations and engagements to party members in peace as well as mutual respect while preparing the primary election.
“We reject in totality this charade and manipulation, which clearly orchestrated to mislead the public to impose a candidate through the back door, saying PDP is a founded on ideals of democracy, inclusiveness and fairness as well the process will lead to the emergence of candidates and most be transparent, credible and in accordance with the party’s constitution…. he said.”
“He insisted that no aspirant be adopted by the PDP nasarawa state chapter as the sole candidate for any elective position without going into primaries and the purpoted adoption by the immediate past state PDP chairman lacks legitimacy, credibility and backing of the party organs……” He added.
“The teeming supporters of the PDP in the state should remain calm and resolute to ensure that only the best, credible and popularly candidate be accepted through democratic processes…..”
The group call on the state working committee to sanction the immediate past state PDP chairman Mr. Francis Orogu for his action to disrupt the peace, unity and stability of the party in nasarawa state.
