President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is seeking the House of Representatives’ approval for the release of 500 billion naira to provide palliatives to Nigerians.

In a letter read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Dr Abbas Tajuddeen, the President said the request was part of his administration’s plans to mitigate the effects of subsidy removal on petroleum products.

The President explained that the funds would be extracted from the the 2022 supplementary appropriation Act of over eight hundred billion naira.

The Nigerian leader also urged the House to consider the request expeditiously in view of the importance attached to it especially on the masses.
