President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 25th anniversary of his assumption of office as Head of Government of Gujarat.
In a congratulatory message, President Tinubu described the milestone as a rare achievement in a democracy, saying it reflects the confidence and trust the Indian people have continued to place in Prime Minister Modi.
He commended Mr Modi’s leadership and contributions to infrastructure development, digital innovation, financial inclusion and economic growth, noting that his leadership has helped transform Gujarat and contributed to India’s emergence as one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing economies.
President Tinubu recalled Prime Minister Modi’s historic state visit to Abuja in November 2024, during which Nigeria honoured him with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON.
He said the visit strengthened bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and India in trade and investment, energy, defence and security, health, education and technology.
The President reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries, describing Nigeria and India as leading voices of the Global South with shared interests in promoting a fairer and more representative international order.
President Tinubu wished Prime Minister Modi good health, continued strength and success in his service to the people of India.
