Gov.Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto state has paid a surprise visit to the state Specialist Hospital in order to have first hand information on the current situation of the health sector .

In a statement signed by the governor’s press secretary says the unscheduled visit, was part of the governor’s plan to respond to public outcry on the condition of the hospital with a view to repositioning the health sector in the state.

The Governor who used Keke napep to visit the hospital alongside his press secretary in the middle of the night, expressed dismay over the dilapidated condition of the state owned hospital

Patients in most of the wards visited by the governor, were found using personal torchlight due to lack of electricity in the hospital .

Some of the nurses on duty who were either sleeping in their stations or sitting outside the wards, told the governor that their wards had been without light for the past nine months.

Governor Aliyu accused the past administration over the condition of the hospital and pledged to reposition the hospital noting that the health sector is part of his change mantra nine point agenda to develop the state for sustainable development.

Ahmad Aliyu directed the hospital management to immediately see him for the next line of action.

During the visit, Patients and their relatives,who were overwhelmed by the unscheduled visit, commended the governor for the surprise visit and prayed for him to succeed in transforming the health sector as well as other sectors of development.
