Niger State Government says it has recruited over two thousand health workers in the last three years towards providing effective health care service delivery in the State.

Commissioner of Health, Dr Murtala Mohammed Bagana who stated this while addressing Newsmen on the three years of Governor Umar Bago led administration said this is the highest health sector recruitment in the history of the State, in addition to developing a thirty year plan for New Niger Health Agenda.

Dr Murtala Mohammed Bagana lamented that for the past fifty years, Niger State does not have a standard level two primary health care, but now have twenty level two primary health care spread across the state which they started from zero level, another fifty four are on progress while by the end of February it will be one hundred and three up to two hundred and seventy four which is one per ward.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works, Engineer Hassan Baba Etsu said Niger state Government has embarked on the construction of over one thousand kilometre roads spread across the twenty five Local Government Areas, stressing that forty percent of the ongoing road projects have been completed and are ready for commissioning.

Commissioner of Agriculture, Isa Sidi Rijau represented by the Director of Agriculture Services, Adamu Garba Maikasuwa the Commissioner explained that over two hundred tractors and equipments including one hundred and fifty thousand bags of fertilizer were distributed to farmers this farming season, with a committee set up by Governor Umar Bago to ensure that the products get to the real farmers.

Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Hadiza Asabe Mohammed said a robust school feeding programme which is one of the best in Nigeria has been going on smoothly in the fifty three secondary schools in the State, while security arrangements are being put in place to enhance teaching and learning in schools.

Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Mr Obed Nuhu Nana, organisers of the programme, added that the present administration of Governor Umar Bago has continued to reposition Niger state for sustainable growth, economic prosperity and inclusive development.
