The Sarkin Hausawa of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Alhaji Musa Saidu, has called on the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, not to attend the coronation of Asari Dokubo as a high chief in the Kalabari Kingdom of Rivers State.
In a statement made available to journalists in Kaduna, Alhaji Musa Saidu, reacting to Dokubo’s recent visit to the Sultan at his palace in Sokoto, alleged that Dokubo had repeatedly shown disrespect towards the Sultan in the past.
The Sarkin Hausa of Port Harcourt also alleged that Asari Dokobo a former militant leader had no single respect for all northerners living in Rivers State, irrespective of their status.

He said Asari Dokubo had humiliated northerners residing in Rivers State but was now seeking their favour by inviting the Sultan and other prominent traditional rulers, including the Etsu Nupe, to attend his coronation.
Alhaji Musa Saidu also accused Asari Dokubo of committing numerous atrocities against northern Nigeria and its people, including allegedly describing the North as “parasites” during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The Sarkin Hausawa of Port Harcourt further recalled that Asari Dokubo had allegedly stated publicly at the Nicon Hilton Hotel in Abuja that he could not recognise any emir from northern Nigeria because, according to him, they were all beggars.
He therefore urged the Sultan not to attend the coronation or send a representative.
The coronation of Asari Dokubo as the Amanyanabo of Elem Kalabari, Torusarama Piri, is scheduled for December 19, 2026.
