Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has described the Danmodi Student Care Initiative as one of the most remarkable achievements of his administration.
He stated this at the launch of the 2026 Mega Danmodi Student Care Intervention Programme held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Dutse.
Namadi said the initiative has evolved into a comprehensive and transformative programme designed to empower students from diverse backgrounds across all levels of education, including Almajirai in traditional Qur’anic schools.
The governor noted that the programme prioritises inclusivity, respect and dignity, while restoring hope and securing a brighter future for young people in the state.
He added that the initiative reflects his administration’s strong commitment to education and student welfare, ensuring that no child is left behind.
Namadi emphasised that youth remain the pride and future of Jigawa, describing their energy and potential as critical to the state’s long-term development and prosperity.
He said investing in people remains a core pillar of his administration’s 12-Point Agenda for Greater Jigawa, particularly through programmes targeting youth and women empowerment.

According to him, the Danmodi Student Care Initiative stands out among the government’s interventions in the education sector.
He disclosed that in the 2025 fiscal year alone, the state government invested nearly N8.1 billion in scholarships for students studying both within Nigeria and abroad.
The scholarships, he said, benefited about 35,000 students, including over 230 studying at foreign universities, mainly in medical and engineering fields.
Namadi stressed that the administration’s commitment goes beyond material support, extending to empowering Almajirai, supporting persons with disabilities and promoting female participation in education.
Highlighting key components of the 2026 intervention, the governor announced the distribution of educational materials and school uniforms to 25,000 out-of-school children.
He also revealed plans to provide 300 bicycles and wheelchairs to secondary school students and children with disabilities to enhance mobility and school attendance.

In addition, 100 laptops will be distributed to Jigawa students at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, and the Nigeria Defence Academy, Kaduna, to strengthen their ICT capacity.
The governor further announced empowerment support for 2,500 Almajirai and 287 Qur’anic school teachers as part of efforts to promote inclusive education and reduce the number of out-of-school children.
Namadi urged beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunities provided and called on stakeholders to continue supporting initiatives aimed at advancing education and youth development in the state.
