Mrs Mary Sinjen, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, in respect of the 10 victims of human trafficking intercepted along with their trafficker on Jan.31st, 2026, at Kurmi Park Jalingo, to be transported to Baisa, the headquarters of Kurma local government area.

“She visited the Command with her Permanent Secretary Mr Eric Juyo, to receive the victims and to interact with them, to identify the root causes of the illegitimate movement of minors out of their home of origin to an unknown destination.

“And to also identify and analyse their challenges to efficiently proffer lasting solutions through policy development and implementation, that will assist in reducing the heinous crime of human trafficking and irregular movement of children, women and girls, to it’s bearest minimum,” she stated.

The statement further emphasized on the dangers that were associated with irregular movement of these categories of people in the society, which is sometimes without the consent of their parents or on deception for greener pastures for their children at the destination.

It also said that it only had access to these children for their exploitative and financial gains on the victims.

The statement also called on all parents in the state to desist from these tendencies of handing over their loved ones to greedy traffickers, on the grounds to ease their hardship of raising their children by unscrupulous traffickers at the detriment of the vulnerable Children.

It reiterated its commitment to victims protection and care to be able to get rid of the victims traumatic experiences of human trafficking, and reassure that it’s not going to be business as usual for the traffickers in the State.

It vows that no suspect of committing or aiding  of this evil crime of human trafficking will be spared if found culpable beyond a reasonable doubt.

Meanwhile, 10 victims had been counselled and reunited with their biological parents after their interaction with the Hon. Commissioner of Women Affairs and Child Development, Hon. Mary Sinjen.
