The Registrar of the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS), Professor Yahuza Imam, and the Board Secretary and Executive Director, Legal Services, Kaduna State Inland Revenue Service (KADIRS), Barrister Aysha Ahmed, alongside two other public officials, have been honoured with the 2026 Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Chapel Awards of Excellence.
Also recognised were the Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Sulaiman Umar, and the Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government Area, Jamilu Jaga.
The awards were presented on Friday at the FRCN premises in Kaduna.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of NUJ, FRCN Chapel, Comrade Umar Adamu Sarkin-Fada, said the recipients emerged through a rigorous vetting process designed to identify public officials who have distinguished themselves through impactful service and commitment to humanity.

Sarkin-Fada stressed the importance of recognising excellence in public service, noting that such recognition promotes accountability, dedication, and healthy competition among office holders.
He reaffirmed the Chapel’s commitment to sustaining its tradition of rewarding outstanding contributions to national development.
In his remarks, Zonal Director of FRCN, Lawal Ali Garba, urged public office holders to discharge their responsibilities with patriotism, integrity, and the fear of God, emphasizing that national progress depends on visionary and selfless leadership.
Also speaking, General Manager of FRCN Kaduna Station, Abdur-Rahman Dan Iyan Zazzau, underscored the critical role of the media as the watchdog of society, charging journalists to remain objective, courageous, and professional in holding leaders accountable.
Similarly, Director of News and Current Affairs, FRCN Kaduna, represented by Comrade Adamu Yusuf, commended the NUJ FRCN Chapel for organising the event, describing it as a morale booster that would inspire public office holders to deepen their commitment to national service.

Earlier, Chairman of the Organising Committee, Umar Muhammad Sani, said the awardees had demonstrated determination and commitment in serving the state, the nation, and humanity.
While reading the citations, he appealed to other public office holders to emulate the award recipients in the interest of national unity and development.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, Barrister Aysha Ahmed, who emerged NUJ–FRCN Philanthropist of the Year, expressed gratitude for the honour and pledged to intensify her humanitarian efforts in line with the SUSTAIN Agenda of the Kaduna State Government under Governor Uba Sani.

The event, attended by community leaders, traditional rulers, and senior media executives, climaxed with the presentation of plaques and citations to the award recipients.
