The former Governor of Zamfara State and the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle has donated 200 bags of rice, 9 cows and cash to Christian communities in Zamfara State to support the 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The donation was presented on his behalf by his Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Ibrahim Maigandi Dan Malikin Gidan Goga held in Gusau the Zamfara State Capital.
Dr Matawalle explained that, the gesture was an annual tradition aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence and ensuring Christians celebrate the festive season with joy and dignity.
He emphasized the importance of transparency, fairness and justice in the distribution of the items, stressing that the initiative reflects his commitment to religious harmony and inclusive leadership.
According to him, the donation covers the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), APC Igbo and Yoruba wings, as well as Igbo, Yoruba and other Christian communities residing in Zamfara State.

In a remark, the APC Chairman in Zamfara State, Tukur Umar Danfulani represented by the APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Yusuf Idris Gusau
urged Christians to use the festive season to pray for lasting peace, unity and stability in Zamfara State and Nigeria at large.
He stressed the need for them to support the ongoing effort of President Bola Ahmad Tinubu to bring development across the country under the Renew Hope Initiative.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the CAN Chairman, Reverend Afolabi Azeez, expressed deep appreciation to Dr Bello Matawalle and assured that the items would be fairly distributed among Christian faithful across the state.
The presentation was witnessed by the the Welfare Secretary of APC, Alhaji Bashir Ataka, Sanusi Muhammad Sarki former Chairman Gusau Local Government), Hajiya Madina Shehu, and several other stakeholders.
