Jigawa state government has approved one billion naira to sustain equitable and quality healthcare services for 287,000 vulnerable beneficiaries.
The state Commissioner of information, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed stated this shortly after the council meeting held at government house Dutse, the state Capital.
He explained that, the beneficiaries include children, pregnant women, the poor, elderly and persons with disabilities under the J-Basic Healthcare Programme for vulnerable populations statewide.
He further explained that, the council also approved increment in the number of enrollees from 500 to 1,000 per political ward.

The Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, disclosed this after the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Dutse.
He said the beneficiaries include children, pregnant women, the elderly, people living with disabilities, and other indigent citizens under the J-Basic Healthcare Programme for vulnerable groups across the state.
Ahmed added that the council also approved an increase in the number of enrollees from 500 to 1,000 per political ward to expand access to the scheme.
According to him, the state equity fund is a critical component of the J -Health Basic Social Insurance Program, aimed at removing financial barriers to healthcare by covering the cost of services for those who are unable to pay.
“With this approval, Jigawa State reinforces its commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and improving health outcomes for all citizens”
Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed said, the executive council has approved an increase in the monthly allowance of the 1,100 J-Teach graduate beneficiaries from ₦30,000 to ₦40,000 as part of ongoing efforts by Governor Umar Namadi’s administration to enhance teacher motivation, boost productivity, and strengthen the quality of education across the state.
He pointed out that, the approval followed a request presented by the Ministry for Higher Education.
Sagir said, the council approved the
sum of over 134 million naira for payment of Administrative Charges, Value Added Tax ,Acceptance Fees and Accommodation for 15 admitted
undergraduate and post graduate students for 2025/2026 fall semester at
Near East University, Cyprus.
He saud, the Council has further approved the sum of over 152 million naira for the living allowance, health Insurance, visa processing fees, resident permit, result authentication, yellow card, feeding allowance, local and International transportation.
Others also include duty tour allowance, estacode and return air ticket for 15 admitted at the Near East University Cyprus for medical, nursing science and engineering courses.
The commissioner added that, the council total approval for the 15 students amount to over 286 point 7 million naira for the 2025/2026 semester.
