Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State says his administration has since assumption to office in twenty twenty three embarked on financial reforms aimed at entrenching financial prudence through value driven procurement process, accountability and transparency in public financial management.
This he said resonates with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria ICAN, a noble mission of building a nation where professionalism, adherence to ethical standards and accountability fastrack their development initiative.
Governor Dauda Lawal stated this in a goodwill message at the opening of the twentieth Northern Zonal Accountants Minna 2025 Conference, organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria ICAN.
Represented by the State Commissioner of Finance Mohammed Bello Auta the Governor, however reaffirmed his administrations readiness to partner with members of Local District Society of ICAN in the state to advance the course of such profession in Zamfara state.
According to Dauda Lawal, Zamfara state Government has received massive support of members of ICAN in the state through expert advice and professional conducts in the discharge of their respective assignments.
He said the ICAN conference is not only a platform for knowledge sharing but an avenue for restrengthening their collective commitment to transparency, accountability and sustainable economic growth and development.
The Commissioner of Finance also applauded Governor Dauda for the appointment of experts in his cabinet that has been yielding positive results, which he described as apt, appropriate and timely.
For the first time in over twenty five years of creation of Zamfara state, this is the first time Governor Dauda appoint experts and professionals who are members of ICAN to appropriate positions such as the Chairman Internal Revenue Service, Deputy Accountant General and Commissioner of Finance in his administration.

In his remarks, President of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, DR Haruna Yahaya expressed delight over the partnership to audit the financial books of Niger state and promised to be independent in carrying out its duties.
