The Kaduna State House of Assembly has passed two significant bills aimed at enhancing tourism and expediting the administration of justice in the state.

The Speaker of the House, Yusuf Dahiru Liman, announced the passage of the bills during a plenary session held at the Assembly complex in Kaduna.

The first bill, titled “A Law to Establish the Kaduna State Tourism, Museum, Landscape, Parks and Recreational Services Board, 2024”, seeks to promote tourism and cultural development across the state.

Presenting the committee’s report, the Chairman of the Joint Committee on Business Innovation and Technology, Judiciary, and Education, Magaji Suleiman, stated that the proposed board is designed to enhance tourism infrastructure and cultural preservation.

Alhaji Magaji Suleiman noted that once operational, the board would play a vital role in transforming parks, landscapes, and recreational centres, thereby attracting both local and international investors.

Also speaking, the sponsor of the bill, Mr. Henry Marah, emphasized the board’s potential to revitalize Kaduna’s rich cultural heritage.

He maintained that the initiative would boost the state’s internally generated revenue, create employment opportunities for youths, and instill cultural values in younger generations.

In a related development, the Assembly also passed a bill amending the Kaduna State Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2017.

Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary, Barr. Emmanuel Kantiyok, who presented the report, said the amendment aims to accelerate the dispensation of justice and ensure equality before the law.

According to Barr. Kantiyok, the bill will help reduce the backlog of court cases, ease prison congestion, and restore public confidence in the judiciary system.

Both bills were passed following a voice vote by members of the House, presided over by the Speaker Liman.

The Assembly has adjourned for recess and is scheduled to reconvene on September 9, 2025.
