Kano State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has officially launched its website, https://environment.kn.gov.ng, as part of its commitment to digitise operations and improve public access to environmental data and services.
Announcing the launch, the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahir M. Hashim, described the new platform as a “decisive leap toward transparent, citizen-centred governance” aligned with the vision of the present administration.
According to Dr. Hashim, the website goes beyond serving as a digital brochure and functions as a dynamic hub for engagement between the government and the people of Kano.
“From real-time air and water quality indices to a 24/7 portal for reporting environmental hazards and erosion threats, we are placing actionable information and the means to act directly in the hands of our people,”
The platform offers detailed insights into all ministry programmes and allows users to track the progress of the 2025 Five-Million-Tree Planting Campaign.
It also features a volunteer registration portal, encouraging citizens to participate in climate action efforts.
The Commissioner maintained that, in line with the administration’s drive for job creation and inclusive growth, the site hosts a streamlined recruitment portal and a dedicated Public-Private Partnership (PPP) interface to attract green investment and innovation.
“For researchers, activists, and concerned citizens, the full text of the Kano State Environmental Pollution Control Law and its accompanying regulations available in both English and Hausa is accessible with a single click. The website also features a “Quick-Contact” desk for prompt response to inquiries and reports”
Dr. Hashim highlighted the digital launch as a milestone in the state’s broader transformation agenda, aimed at empowering communities, protecting natural resources, and building climate resilience.
“I invite all Kano residents and friends of our state to visit the site, explore its features, and become active partners in defending the environment that sustains us,” the Commissioner urged.
“Together, let us turn data into action, commitments into impact, and Kano’s green promise into reality.”
