Foundation Hails Buhari’s Legacy of Integrity, Discipline, and National Unity
The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who passed away on July 13, 2025. In a heartfelt tribute, the Foundation described Buhari as a “towering figure in Nigeria’s history” whose life was defined by unwavering patriotism, discipline, and dedication to national service.
The Foundation, in a statement signed by its Director-General, Engr. Dr. Abubakar Gambo Umar, recalled the late president’s significant contributions to the nation, both as a military leader from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023. His historic victory in 2015, becoming the first Nigerian to defeat an incumbent president, was highlighted as a watershed moment in Nigeria’s democratic evolution.
“Late President Buhari’s commitment to national security, infrastructure development, and agricultural reform laid a strong foundation for sustainable development,” the Foundation stated.
The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation drew parallels between Buhari’s values and those of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, noting that Buhari’s life exemplified integrity, unity, and service to the nation—principles central to the Foundation’s mission.
“His perseverance in contesting the presidency multiple times before his eventual victory speaks volumes about his resolve and belief in Nigeria’s future,” the statement added.
Calling for national reflection, the Foundation urged Nigerians to honor Buhari’s memory by recommitting to the ideals of good governance, justice, and unity. “His legacy should inspire a renewed sense of purpose in nation-building,” the DG said.
The Foundation extended its condolences to Buhari’s family, the people of Katsina State, and the entire nation, praying for Allah’s mercy upon his soul and for his admittance into Aljannah Firdaus.
