Network of Civil Society in Environment, NCSE Kaduna State has reinstated it’s commitment in ensuring issues boring on residents regarding the environment are handled in line with international best practices.

The network made their positions known at a meeting chaired by its Coordinator, Gloria Kasang Bulus held at Centre for Water and Environment Development CWED office in Kaduna.

Addressing members of the Network, Ms Gloria Kasang Bulus explained that issues of enviornment have direct impact on people, hence its importance can not be over emphasized, saying the meeting was apt.

According to her, going by the peculiar nature of environmental issues and how it affects the people, an organisation under the network “bridge that gap initiative” has made significant moves in the areas of gathering first hand on the spot assessment of the enviornment in the state where some refuse dump sites were visited.

She explained that, as a coalition, this year’s world environment day was marked with road walk to sensitize the residents on the need to take good care of their environment, as well as a legislation at the state Assembly on a matter of public importance to stop the gas emissions and pollution at a village in Kagarko local government area is ongoing, among others.

MS Gloria called on members of the network to seat up and take the responsibility they have signed for seriously, noting that environment space is very broad as it cut across climate change, among others.

Contributing, Secretary of the Network, Mr. Zinta Istifanus who presented a paper that focused on the aims, objectives and goals of the network, maintained that the network of Civil Society in Environment thematic areas cut across, climate change, safer environment, environmental governance and disaster management.

Mr. Zinta pointed out that some of the activities lined up for the network this year include tree planting, clean ups, hazard protecting, vulnerability assessment, single use plastic campaigns and community engagements.

Also speaking, representative of the meeting host, Lydia Saleh welcomed all members for attending the meeting and briefed members of the centre’s activities and pledged total support to the NCSE course.

Highlight of the meeting was the Constitution of two committees as part of the network action plan for the year.

The meeting was attended by representatives of notable organisations on environment, including, Bridge that Gap Initiative, Zamani Foundation, Kwatam Development Foundation, AMDF, among others.
