The Kogunan Kasar Hausa and Maigarin Darmanawa, Alhaji Aliyu Da’u Abubakar, has emphasized the vital role traditional institutions play in promoting peaceful coexistence across the country.
He made this known while receiving a Peace Ambassador Award during an event organized by postgraduate students of Conflict, Peace and Strategic Studies from the Department of Political Science, Kaduna State University.
Alhaji Aliyu Da’u Abubakar acknowledged the efforts of traditional rulers in fostering peace and justice in society.
He commended the students and faculty of the Political Science Department for the recognition and encouraged them to sustain their commitment to peacebuilding efforts nationwide.
He further called on traditional and community leaders to remain steadfast in promoting harmony within their domains to support national development.
In his remarks, the leader of the graduating class, Alhaji Bashir Magaji, highlighted the importance of peace initiatives in Nigeria. He urged the government and security agencies to intensify their efforts in maintaining law and order.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff, the Nigeria Police Force, the Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University, and others.
