ABU Zaria Commissions First Distance Learning Center

Ahmadu Bello University Zaria ABU has flagged off it’s first Distance Learning with seventeen undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Kabiru Bala while flagging off the Center at Arewa House Kaduna said the new system would give candidates the opportunity to run a degree or masters programme through online classes.

Ahmadu Bello University Zaria ABU is the largest university in sub-saharan Africa and her alma mater are all over the world.

Professor Kabiru Bala explained that the distance learning would reduce the pressure during admission particularly for those that want to stay at ABU’s hostel because those on distance learning don’t need to be around.

He further explained that those seventeen programmes are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission.

The VC also explained that the Center would be fully operated at Arewa House Kaduna which is another property of ABU.

In his address, Director Distance Learning Center Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Professor Ibrahim Muhammad Sule said by the design with the National Universities Commission a distance learning center is allow to run all the programmes that are approved on the campus but ABU underlined seventeen to begin with.

He added that National Universities Commission underlined some courses that are not allowed to be taking at the distance learning center these include medicine, law, engineering and nursing to some extent among other courses that are more on practical.

Some of the courses for interested candidates to apply are Bsc Business Administration, public administration, economics, political science, international studies, sociology, accounting, computer science and BNSc Nursing science.

Other for postgraduate are masters in business administration, international affairs and diplomacy, public health, low enforcement and criminal justice, information management, public administration, postgraduate diploma in education and in management.
