Niger State APC Chairman Resigns

Chairman, Niger State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), Haliru Zakari Jikantoro has voluntarily resigned his position.

Jikantoro announced his resignation immediately after the state executive and other stakeholders met at the party’s secretariat in Minna.

He insisted that his resignation was based on “personal conviction” following wide consultations “for the betterment of the APC in Niger state”, and assured the party faithful that he would continue to give his best to the party “at any given time”.

He restated that there was no misunderstanding with the party executive or State Working Committee, stressing that his resignation would “add value” to the party in the state.

Meanwhile, the Zonal chairman from Zone C, Alhaji Aminu Bobbi has been nominated as the Acting Chairman of the party in the state.

Alhaji Bobbi, in his acceptance speech, promise to “reposition the party”.

The Special Adviser to the Niger state Governor on politics and Strategy, Alhaji Mohammad Nma Kolo said there was no friction in the party, noting that Jikantoro announced his decision during a meeting on thursday with the governor, SSG, Speaker, and had insisted, despite pleas from others present, that it was time to step down, and leaving Governor Mohammed Umar Bago with no other option than to accept his resignation.
