The Federal Government has reassured its commitment to providing training and support to wheat farmers across the federation, aimed at boosting production in the country.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Dr. Mohammad Mahmoud stated this during the distribution of farm inputs and modern equipment to 560 wheat farmers from the Northwest and Northeast Geo-Political Zone of the Country.

Represented by the Director of Agriculture, federal ministry of agriculture and rural development Kano Office Alhaji Abba Gana Yamani, said the objective of the empowerment was to boost wheat production.

He said the federal government will not relent in providing adequate training and modern techniques to farmers, geared toward building their capacity to produce enough food to feed the nation.

“These farmers we’ve supported together are grassroots farmers, some do not have the funds to buy this modern equipment that’s why the federal government come up with this initiative of continuous support to wheat farmers “

The minister maintained that 560 wheat farmers will benefit from the support, from the Northwest and Northeast Geopolitical Zone of the Nation.

In a remark the Deputy Director, Desk officer wheat Value Chain Federal ministry of agriculture and rural development M.r Naphtali Delta said the inputs distributed were targeted at boosting production as well as reducing the cost of wheat production.

He urged the beneficiaries to explore the yield potential of the assorted seeds to boost wheat production.

The items presented to the beneficiaries include 280 seed metric tones,10 planters 996 related liters,11 motorized weeders, and 90 pH meters.

Others were 90 moisture meters, 93 knapsack spray, and over five thousand double hermetic bags 5,441
