Kaduna State Government has handed over Ibrahim Ado, a 67 year old man who was locked up for over 20 years to the National Psychiatric hospital Barnawa, Kaduna, for more medical attention.

The state Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Mohammed Baba, stated this in a telephone interview with Radio Nigeria in Kaduna.

According to her, the state government would take full financial responsibility of Ibrahim Ado ‘s medical care till he recovers.

Hajiya Hafsat Mohammed Baba lamented that yesterday the staff of her ministry were at the house of the victim to pick him but there was resistance from the community.

She said Kaduna State Police Command had to intervene before taking him to the psychiatric hospital Barnawa.

She explained that the state government had started tracking Ibrahim Ado’s family so that when he gets better he would be reunited with them.

The Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development also assured that the police command would soon present a report on the circumstances that led to him being locked up for years.

It would be recalled that Ibrahim Ado was found naked at a room by the Environment Health Officers under Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State while on assignment.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna State, DSP Mohammed Jalige told journalists that a thorough investigation would be conducted on the matter.
