The Federal High court sitting in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital has nullified the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP that produced Dauda Lawan-Dare as the party governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections.

During a court sitting in Gusau,
the Presiding Judge, Justice Aminu Bappa Aliyu ordered that the party should conduct fresh governorship primaries of the party in the state.

The PDP governorship primaries which were held on May 25, produced Dr Dauda Lawal-Dare, as the party’s governorship candidate for the state’s 2023 governorship election.

Justice Bappa Aliyu added that the court had granted all the prayers submitted to the court by the plaintiffs and hereby ruled in their favour adding that, the 109-page judgement would be presented to the counsels of both parties.

Addressing journalists, the counsel to the plaintiffs Ibrahim Aliyu says, the court has nullified the election of Dauda Lawan Dare as the PDP candidate based on the prayers submitted before the court.

Responding, the State Legal Adviser of the PDP, Bashir Magama who represented the dependants in the court sitting said the PDP would study the judgement and take the necessary action.

“Yes, the judgement was in the favour of plantiffs and all the dependants are going to study it and take next action”, Magama added.
