Kebbi state Hisba says, it has recorded over eight thousand cases from its establishment in 2001 to date.

The cases recorded include rape, abandoned babies, unwanted pregnancies by teenegers and drugs addiction.

Others are closure of commercial sex hawkers houses, gambling temples, open bear palours, child labour, lost of children, abandoned dead bodies as well as settlement of marraige dispute between husbands and wives.

The Kebbi state Commander of Hisba, Alhaji Suleman Muhammad, who revealed this on the occassion of 20th Anniversary of Hisba in the state, stated that, with the emergence of Hisba, social vises had drastically reduced to the minimal in the state.

Governor Atiku Bagudu, who applauded the efforts of Hisba in reducing social vices in the state called on the public to contribute by assisting in fighting crimes and criminal activies in the state.

“No religion permits its followers to commit crimes, Hisba is committed to be part of the state security architecture”.

He assured government’s committment on continued support to Hisba by boosting its operation with one hundred million naira so that it discharges its duty effectively and deligently.

The Chairman of the occassion, Minister of Justice, Abubakar Cika Malami SAN, while commending the efforts of Hisba urged them to prioritise the fight against drugs addiction particularly amongst youth.

Represented by the former state commissioner for works, Abubakar Cika Ladan, Malami, called on Hisba to work with relevant agencies in dealing with crimes related activities in the state.
