We Are Committed To Success Of National Home Grown Feeding Programme -NOA

The Kano state director, National Orientation Agency, Alhaji Lawal Haruna Makarfi has reiterated the agency’s commitment in ensuring the success of the National Home Grown Feeding Program in the state.

Alhaji Lawal made the call while declaring open a National Home Grown Feeding Programme sensitization, organized for staff of the National Orientation Agency Kano office.

According to him, the sensitization was organized to build capacity of staff on aims and objectives of the school feeding program for primary pupils.

The state director said, staff of national orientation agency in Kano would soon commence enlightenment campaigns to educate the public on the importance of the National Home Grown Feeding Programme.

He maintained that committees would be inagurated and saddled with responsibilities of working with relevant stakeholders to achieve the desired objectives.

Alhaji Lawal noted that as part of efforts to promote the school feeding program to international standards, some staff of the agency attended a workshop in Abuja, and cascaded the knowledge to community orientation and mobilization officers across the 44 local government areas.

He stressed that, federal government has introduced the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP) as a government school feeding programme that aims to improve the health and educational outcomes of public primary school pupils.

The state director said federal government provides food for primary one to three while Kano state government shoulders the responsibilities of primary four to six.

Alhaji Lawal Haruna Makarfi commended Kano state government for it’s dedication to the school feeding program and all issues related to educational development.

Reports indicate that over 1.5 million children were enrolled under the school feeding program in Kano, where independent monitors were engaged by the ministry for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development who were trained to monitor the feeding program.
