Good Moral Upbringing, Catalyst To Development- Islamic Scholar

Parents have been advised to inculcate good moral values to their children to ensure a peaceful and crime free society.

A renowned Islamic scholar in Kano, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Othman made the call during an exclusive interview with Radio Nigeria.

According to him, good moral upbringing among youths is one of the catalysts to the development of a nation, through peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding.

He described Islam as a religion of peace which preaches peaceful coexistence irrespective of ethnic and religious differences.

Sheikh Muhammad Bin othman pointed out that, peace can be achieved through respecting each other’s religion, ethnicity and embracing one another.

The Islamic scholar explained that appreciating one another especially among youths would go a long way in mitigating ethnic and religious conflicts as Nigeria means unity in diversity.

He maintained that Islam forbids insulting or looking down on any personality or religion as Allah (SWT) says “do not abuse the gods of those who don’t worship God”,

“Peace is the absence of fear and insecurity”

Sheikh Bin othman said respect is a

reciprocal gesture that would promote peace and security, according to the federal system.

He charged religious leaders to educate their followers on dangers of taking law into their hands.

The Sheik said that miscreants and unpatriotic Nigerians may seize the opportunity to instigate violence.

He called on government to bring all relevant stakeholders together to discuss and profer lasting solutions to problems bedevilling the country, as well as making laws that would sanction those found guilty of hate speech, propaganda and promoting diversity to move the nation forward.“Government should make laws to sanction those guilty of breaching peace.Nigerians should learn to respect one another
