Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has received the Blueprint Newspapers’ 2026 Award for Efficient Public Resource Management and Transparency.
The governor received the award at the 8th edition of the Blueprint Newspapers Annual Public Lecture, Impact Series and Awards, held in Abuja.
The event, with the theme, “Security Challenges and Integrity of Nigeria’s 2027 Elections,” brought together policymakers, security chiefs, political leaders, diplomats, civil society organisations, academics and other stakeholders.
In a statement by the Governor spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris explained that, the award was in recognition of Governor Lawal’s prudent management of public resources, fiscal accountability and commitment to transparent governance in Zamfara State.
Speaking after receiving the award, Governor Lawal expressed appreciation to the management of Blueprint Newspapers, saying that, the recognition demonstrated that, the efforts of his administration were being noticed beyond Zamfara State.
He said the award was a testament that, the media and Nigerians outside Zamfara were witnessing the efforts his government was putting in its quest to make Zamfara great.
The governor said his administration had recorded significant achievements in security, education, healthcare, economic development, human capital and infrastructure during its three years in office.
The governor, while receiving the award, pledged to sustain his administration’s efforts to rescue and rebuild Zamfara State.
In its citation, Blueprint Newspapers said Governor Lawal was recognised for demonstrating responsible stewardship of public resources and linking fiscal discipline with inclusive development.
The Managing Director of Blueprint Newspapers Limited, Salisu Umar, described Governor Lawal as “a blend of professional accomplishment and public service”
He said the governor’s experience in diplomacy, banking and politics had equipped him with a broad understanding of governance, financial management and institutional leadership.
Umar said Governor Lawal had pursued policies aimed at restoring stability, improving infrastructure, strengthening public institutions and creating opportunities for economic growth.
