KDSG Awards Winners of Innovation Challenge To Students Across the State

Kaduna State government says it will not relent in identifying and supporting young innovators and talents to achieve their full potentials.

Deputy Governor of the State, Dr Hadiza Balarabe stated this at the presentation of awards to winners of the innovation challenge in Commemoration of 55th Anniversary of the Creation of Kaduna State held at government house Kaduna.

She said the competition stimulated the minds of selected teams in building and developing ideas driven to solve problems using Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Dr Hadiza Balarabe explained that, about five hundred students Participated and were exposed in business, product design and mentoring from renowned mentors and entrepreneurs.

“We are glad to see brilliant young people endowed with creative and innovative talents from our schools come together to showcase their gifts and talents.

She expressed optimism for presenting the awards to winners of the recently concluded Innovation Challenge which included the STEM and Creativity and SDGs Hackathon for students from primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in Kaduna State.

“Some of the activities that complemented the innovation competition was a Peace and Unity Football competition played by the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State

which finals took place this last Saturday, the 18th June, 2022″

“Other activities included a Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) clinic and Exhibition on Saturday, 28 May 2022 where MSMEs showcased their products and services while government agencies and other financial institutions provided hands-on assistance to MSMEs”

According to Dr Balarabe, the presentation of the prizes marks the end of another aspect of the Commemoration of Kaduna at 55.

The Deputy Governor stressed that, Skills and talent development form part of the policy thrust of the state administration in driving human capital development which is very crucial in achieving sustainability in development.

She appreciated the KAD ICT hub and all partners that supported the initiative.

In a remark, the Chief Excutive officer, Kad ICT HUB Malam Yusuf Bashir revealed that, the competition had brought talents that exist within Kaduna State.

Malam Yusuf added that, the competition was gear towards providing the students to succeed in technology skills among others.

The winners emerged from the STEM & Creativity Festival that held during the commemoration of Kaduna State at 55 on 27 May 2022.

The winners are;
1st Place: Al Mannar Academy

2nd Place: Essence International School

3rd Place: Kamlick Schools.
