An explosion at a gas refilling shop has injured twenty people and burnt down shops at Sheka karshen Kwalta, Kumbotso local government area of Kano state .

Reports indicate that, a gas cylinder exploded and instantly caught fire which destroyed the place and about three shops including part of a house attached to the shop.

Some residents of the area who spoke to Radio Nigeria, explained that they heard a sound of gas cylinder exploding.

They pointed out that, many people were rushed to the hospital naked with burnt skins.

They said over 10 people were affected mostly those inside the shop, and people living close to the gas shop doing their businesses.

The public relations officer of the Kano state fire service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi confirmed the incident.

He said the incident was allegedly triggered by fire from a man frying and selling fish near the gas shop.

Saminu noted that 20 people, were involved but have been rescued and now recieving treatment in hospitals.

He advised the general public to handle fire and electric appliances with caution to avoid disasters.
