Tragedy struck at Gandun Albasa-Bala Barodo in Kano municipal local government, where a 35-year-old mother, Maryam Nura, and her three-year-old son, died from fire that razed a building they were dwelling in.

The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the incident in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.

According to him the agency
received a distress call from one Ibrahim Ashiru that a five-room bungalow of about 75ft by 75ft in dimension, was completely razed.

Saminu said the victims were rescued unconscious and handed over to Inspector Shehu Lawan of Kwali Police Station, where doctors on duty at Murtala Muhammad specialist hospital comfirmed their death.

The public relations officer decried over rising cases of fire disasters as over twenty people were burnt beyond recognition in a late night fire on Thursday at Sheka karshen Kwalta.

He added that, twenty sheep and eight grain silos were also burnt to ashes in Kunchi local government area of the state.
