The Kano State Fire Service says a fire outbreak at Kofar Ruwa Timber Market in Kano has affected 110 structures, comprising 75 permanent buildings and 35 temporary structures.

The Public Relations Officer of the Service, PFS Kabiru Isah Jafaru, stated this in a statement made available to newsmen in Kano.

According to the statement, the fire broke out at about 7:39 a.m. following a report received from Alhaji Abba, a timber dealer.

Jafaru explained that fire service personnel from various stations within the Kano metropolis were immediately mobilised to the scene upon receiving the report.

On arrival, the teams discovered that the fire had engulfed several sections of the timber market, affecting the 110 structures.

He said the firefighters successfully brought the situation under control and prevented the fire from spreading to other sections of the market.

The Service, however, urged traders and business owners to remain vigilant and adopt necessary fire prevention measures, particularly during the harmattan season, when dry and dusty conditions can increase fire risks.

The Executive Director of the Kano State Fire Service reiterated the importance of taking precautionary measures to protect lives and property against fire outbreaks.
