Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West of Operation HADARIN DAJI deployed at Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State have neutralised 15 Armed bandits who invaded Sabon Gari Area of Bakura Town.

Reports say the bandits invaded the area during the evening hours of Tuesday and started shooting sporadically after rustling a large Number of cattle.

Troops deployed at Bakura town responded swiftly and engaged the Bandits in a fire fight that lasted for almost 2 hours.

Sources say the superior fire-power of the security forces forced the Bandits to abandon the rustled cattle and flee towards Kurunkudu into the forest, incurring varying degrees of gunshot wounds.

during the fire-fight, one source said, scores of the bandits were killed while others were seen fleeing towards the forest with gunshot wounds.

“We are happy with the quick response of the Nigerian Army Troops here at Bakura, ” a resident of the town told Radio Nigeria.

“They have assisted us in killing scores of the Bandits who invaded our community and they also helped us to recover all the cattle stolen by the bandits.”

The eyewitness also said 1 local was killed by the bandits while 5 other locals sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at General Hospital Bakura.
