FG Inaugurates Sokoto-Tambuwal-Kontagora Road Project

President Muhammadu Buhari, has commissioned the 296 kilometers reconstructed Sokoto -Tambuwal -Jega – )Koko – Yauri – Kontagora and Makera road project in Kebbi State.

Speaking on the commissioning of the project at Koko town in Koko Bese Local Government Area of Kebbi State, President Buhari said, the commissioning was a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to reposition road transport system in the country.

Represented by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Justice Abubakar Malami, said the programme was a demonstration of the administration commitment to improve road transport infrastructure in Nigeria.

According to him, his administration resolved to provide more job opportunities by enhancing productive engagements of the teaming population and economic value, adding that, this was in line with the Federal Government’s policy to lift one hundred million Nigerians out of poverty in the country.

“I am confident to say that, the project shows our determination to improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria”.

While reiterating the determination of his administration commitment to complete ongoing projects in the country, President Buhari said it was worthy to note that the Sokoto-Kontogora road construction project was awarded by the previous administration in 2012.

He noted with satisfaction that, the dilapidated road was now motorable, adding that, the road had been reconstructed to the highest quality and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the road for their betterment.

In his remarks, Kebbi State Governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu, said the reconstructed road was important not only to Kebbi State but the nation at large in view of its strategic economic value.

He commended President Buhari for executing viable projects across Nigeria, saying such projects were meant to improve the socio economic well being of the people.

The Minister of Works, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, said the present administration was keen on improving the living standard of all Nigerians.

The Minister described the commissioning of the road as huge investment for both present and future generation.
