The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of two young boys, 8 year old Usman Nasiru and 10 year old Nafi’u Ahmed at Bachirawa ‘Yan Rake in Ungoggo local government area of the state.

Narrating the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Agency Saminu Yusif Abdullahi said the agency received a distress call from Sani Manaja that two boys had fallen into a pond.

He pointed out that a rescue team was quickly mobilized from Rijiyar Lemo fire station, where offcers who specializes in such kind of operations suceeded in retrieving the two boys unconcious and later confirmed dead by health officials.

The Public Relations Officer decried the rising cases of drowning in the state and charged parents and guardians to be more vigilant and report cases of drowning, fire disasters, collapsed buildings and road accidents to the nearest fire station office or through its 24 hours telephone numbers.

In another development, the Kano State Fire Service had conducted a lecture on fire prevention matters and demonstration at NYSC Camp in Karaye local government area.

Delivering the lecture, SFS Rabi’u Abdulqadir advised corps members to avoid indiscriminate use of fire and electric appliances as well as desist from local swimming to prevent disasters.

While reiterating the agency’s readiness to provide the necessary assistance to the corpers whenever the need arises, he commended the National Youth Service Corps for the orderly nature of the orientation camp.
