The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Ilorin Branch in Kwara state, has stagged a peaceful protest in support of agitations by Members of Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria(JUSUN) over financial autonomy for Judiciary.
The protesting NBA members carrying placards with different inscriptions besieged government house gate to register their grievances.
Addressing Journalists at the government House in Ilorin, the state Chairman of NBA, Mr Abdulganiyu Bello urged the state government to comply with the dictates of the Constitution.
According to him, the state government need to give effect to section 121 (3) of the Constitution regarding the financial autonomy for the Judiciary.
Bello expressed worry over lack of political will on the part of the state government to implement court judgment on the issue.
He urged the state government to respect the presidential assent on the executive order and implement same.
