Lawmakers in the Kogi State House of Assembly have impeached four principal officers for gross misconduct and abuse of office.

The impeached lawmakers are Deputy Speaker Ahmed Mohammed, Majority leader Bello Hassan Abdullahi, Deputy Majority Leader Ndako Idris Muhammed and Deputy Chief Whip Edoko Moses  Ododo.

In a motion signed by seventeen lawmakers and read during plenary by the member representing Dekina- Okura state constituency, Enema Paul said the lawmakers agreed to impeach the lawmakers for their gross misconduct and abuse of office on the social media.

He said three of lawmakers, Ahmed Mohammed, Bello Hassan Abdullahi and Edoko Moses Ododo have also been suspended indefinitely pending the completion of investigation of allegations leveled against them.

Enema Paul announced their immediate replacement to include, Alfa Momoh Rabiu new deputy speaker, Murktar Bajeh who was the former chief Whip was elevated to  the position of majority leader, Ahmed Dahiru new chief Whip, Umar Tanimu new deputy majority leader and Enema Paul new deputy chief Whip.

Seconding the motion the member representing Adavi state constituency Ibrahim Usman said the lawmakers were in agreement of impeachment and suspension of the principal officers.

The Speaker, Prince Matthew Kolawole congratulated the new principal officers, urged them to abide by House standing rules and be loyal to leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In another development, Kogi State House of Assembly has dissolved all Standing House while new ones have been appointed.
