Jigawa State Gross Domestic Product Hits Over N2trn

Jigawa State Goss Domestic Product GDP has increased from nine hundred and fifty billion naira to over two trillion naira as a result of diversifying the agricultural sector by the State government.

Governor Badaru Abubakar disclosed this when he received a delegation from Lake Chad Research Institute at government House Dutse, the jigawa state capital.

According to him, the state is committed to developing the agricultural sector for improved food production and the economy of the people.

He attributed the success to stakeholders in the agricultural sector for their hard work and commitment since the inception of his administration.

Alhaji Badaru Abubakar pledged to continue collaborating with Lake Chad Research Institute on improving seeds and other agricultural activities.

He expressed satisfaction in receiving the certificate, describing it as a welcome development for the government and farmers in the state.

Badaru commended the agricultural team of the state for supporting the state government agricultural agenda and pledged to do more.

Earlier in a speech, the Director of Research of the Institution Dr Zakari Turaki, said the Institute in collaboration with the Jigawa state government Research Institute have introduced a new variety of wheat called MBA Maja wheat approved by the national seeds certification agency Ibadan, Oyo state.

He explained that the team were in the state to present the certificate to the Governor of Duru wheat initiated and developed by the Jigawa Research Institute.

The Director commended Governor Badaru Abubakar for being the first to bring a number of improved seeds variety for large and small scale farmers in the state to benefit.
