
The Igbo Muslim Da’awa Group has today Friday launched the first translated version of the Holy Qur’an in Igbo language, at Ansaru-ddeen Mosque Abuja
The Copies came to the Public after rigorous work for about five years by sheik Murtala Chukwuemeka
Sheikh Murtala explained that this idea came to his mind after careful observation that it was only Igbo Community do not have the full knowledge and information about the Holy Qur’an.
He said as a preacher and true believer of Islam who wish his fellow Igbo people to know the true messages of Allah SWT contained in the Holy Qur’an there was need to do something important for Igbo Muslims and None Muslims to be able to have a correct message of Allah SWT.
Sheikh Murtala explained that so far they have shared about fifty copies to Igbo land and twenty five others accepted Islam immediately.
According to him, only the Qur’an that carries the authentic message of Allah through his beloved prophet Muhammad SAW to mankind therefore there is a need for preacher to ensure every mankind has this message correctly.
He said in doing this work he researched the right Igbo language, by using (Omagedo) dialect in translating the Quran which was the general Igbo dialect that everybody understands in the Land.
Many people have expressed appreciations for having translated version at this time, saying this is a great work that will propells Islam in Igbo land where many do not know anything about Islam
The chairman of the occasion Alhaj Shaharu Haruna Umar Zone 4 appreciated the hard work of sheikh Murtala and promised to further transmit the information to fellow Muslims especially Igbo people who were not privileged to understand any language other than Igbo
Sheikh Faruk Chubuzo who is a member of the Group believed that this work will make it easy for Igbo People to understand Islam in its correct perspective rather than attaching sentiment in understanding the message contained in the Qur’an
Commenting, the District Head of Galadimawa Alhaji Musa Barde expressed confidence in sheikh Murtala’s efforts and assured that they would continue to hel for the desired objectives.
