Zamfara State Weds Twenty Orphans, Empowers Over 1000 Youths

Zamfara State Commissioner for Hotels and Tourism, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, has wedded 20 orphans and empowered 1000 youths, women of Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.

The wedding ceremony took place at the Tsafe Emirs Palace while the empowerment programme was held in Tsafe town.

Speaking at the event, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi pledged to sponsor the education of ten more orphans from primary school to university level.

He said the decision became imperative, considering how activities of bandits and other criminals had caused hardship to people, making them homeless and financially handicap

According to him, 600 youths and women will receive N20,000 each to start their businesses that would enable them become self reliant and contribute their quota to the development of their respective communities.

The Commissioner also distributed 14 cars, 600 motorcycles and 100 sewing machines to the people of Tasfe local government including community leaders and political associates.

In his remarks, Governor Bello Matawalle commended the effort of the commissioner for the gesture which he described as timely and urged other political office holders to borrow leaf from him.

Represented by the Speaker, Zamfara state assembly, Nasiru Magarya, urged those that benefitted from the gesture to use it judiciously in order to stand on their toes.

In his contribution, the Chairman Planning Committee, Buhari Kaura, said the empowerment programme was conducted due to concerns over how humanitarian crises had exposed many citizens to economic hardship.
