Police command in Sokoto State has reaffirmed its readiness to ensuring peaceful process before, during and after the 2027 general elections in the State.
The State Commissioner of Police, Hassan Hayatu Shaffa made the statement at an interactive session with all political parties chairmen in the State.
He said the police remains resilient in ensuring the election guidelines are strictly adhere for successful conduct of the election in the State.
The CP gave 5 point template upon which the command would focus during its operations stressing that electioneering campaigns must avoid insults, character assassination and in line with parties manifesto.
He cautioned that Political parties would be accountable and must have control of their supporters for peaceful and smooth party activities.
CP Hayatu Shaffa urged the cooperation of political parties and their leaders to support the command by sharing intelligence on flash points and restive areas on emerging threats.
In a response, the APC state Chairman, Haruna S. Adiya assured that the party was ready and willing to abide by the rules and respect for the rules of laws.
No fewer than 17 political parties were in attendance, including APC ADC, NDC, AAC, PRP, LP, NNPP, APM, AP, BP, DLA, AC, ADA, AD among others.
