Acting National Chairman of Social Democratic Party SDP, Prof Sadik Umar Gombe, has described as a morale booster statement by the former Military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida expressing happiness that during his life time some people are still carrying the messages of the SDP that stand for social justice, fairness and equity.
According to him he said there is no better time that Nigerians needed the SDP than now.
Acting National Chairman of SDP Professor Sadik Umar Gombe, said the Former Military President stated this during a close door meeting with some Executive members of SDP at his Hilltop residence in Minna, Niger state that visited him to commiserate with him on 84th year birthday.
Professor Sadik Umar Gombe who interpreted to Newsmen what the IBB has said during their closed door meeting however explained that the Former President also assured them of his continued support at all times to succeed.
He said Nigeria required a party like the SDP which he founded, that stands for equity and justice, well organised as well that positioned itself to rescue the country.
Professor Sadik Umar Gombe further noted that they were also in Minna, to tap from the wealth of experience and wisdom of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, whom he described as a visionary and an exceptional leader that had contributed immensely to the growth and development of Nigeria and Africa.
Also speaking, SDP National Secretary, Dr Olu Agulewe said the party is not structured to aggravate different issues pertaining corruption which he said distinguishes itself in the way that stand out for the people, in a form of coming for a rescue mission.
Among the signatories in the entourage includes former Senator from Anambra state, Mr Ugochukwu Uba, and former SDP Gubernatorial candidate from Kogi state, Murtala Ajaka and Air Vice Marshal Imam from Niger state among others.
