The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume has hailed the transformative reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing them as a foundation for national rebirth.

He made the commendation during a two-day government-citizen engagement event organized by the Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation at Arewa House, Kaduna.

The SGF noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda is a practical roadmap anchored on good governance, equity, and transparency.

He outlined its eight priority areas including economic reform, security, infrastructure, education, agriculture, and improved governance aimed at inclusive national development.

He said the interactive session provided an avenue for ministers to account for electoral promises and explain the realities shaping government decisions.

Akume reaffirmed the administration’s openness and commitment to citizen engagement as a core democratic value.

He highlighted several bold economic reforms such as the unification of exchange rates, tax digitization, and performance-based governance. Though challenging, these steps have stabilized the economy and improved investor confidence.

He said national security was being strengthened through investment in technology and personnel, while non-kinetic approaches such as education and poverty alleviation were also being prioritized to tackle insecurity sustainably.

Judicial reforms, support for local government autonomy, and regional development commissions were also cited as part of efforts to strengthen institutional governance and bring services closer to the people.

Youth empowerment, according to Akume, remains a top priority with over 400,000 students benefitting from the new loan scheme. He noted that vocational training, education reform, and youth inclusion in governance were driving social development.

On subsidy removal, he said savings were being redirected into infrastructure, MSME support, and social welfare. Akume assured that ongoing palliatives and targeted interventions were helping to mitigate the impact on citizens.

He called on Nigerians to walk the path of democracy together with patience, unity, and renewed hope in the country’s future.
