Zamfara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting adolescent girls’ education through the AGILE Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme, aimed at promoting school attendance and academic excellence among female students.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Malam Wadato Madawaki, made this known while leading a delegation to Government Girls Day Secondary School (GGDSS) and Government Girls Arabic Secondary School (GGASS), Tudun Wada, Gusau, to monitor the ongoing Second Cohort of the CCT registration exercise.
Malam Madawaki explained that the visit was intended to oversee the smooth registration process for the second phase of the Conditional Cash Transfer, which targeted female students in public schools across the state.
According to him, the administration’s of Governor Lawal resolve to ensure adolescent girls remain in school, study hard, and grow to become responsible and productive members of the society.
“We want our girls to be educated up to the tertiary level, become gainfully employed, and contribute meaningfully to their families and society,” he said.
He further noted that beneficiaries particularly those transitioning from JSS3 to SS1 will receive the financial support immediately after schools resume from the long vacation.
Malam Madawaki urged the students to take their education seriously, stressing that, mothers are the backbone of every child’s upbringing and therefore, educating girls today means empowering future generations.
“As the AGILE Coordinator earlier stated, we are here to monitor the proper take-off of the second phase of the CCT programme.

Malam Wadato Madawaki pointed out that, the initiative is designed to uplift underprivileged families and promote the education of the girl-child.
The Commissioner issued a strong warning to school principals and administrators against any form of misappropriation of funds.
“No principal should divert a single naira.This programme is not for manipulation. It is meant to support economically disadvantaged parents and align with Governor Lawal’s educational transformation agenda. We demand transparency, accountability, and fairness in its execution.”
He added that the intervention would be handed directly to the mothers of the beneficiaries, wishing the students success in their educational journey.
In her remarks, the Zamfara State AGILE Coordinator, Hajiya Sa’adatu Abdu Gusau, confirmed that the second cohort team was in schools to register students in SS1, as well as Primary Six pupils from nearby schools.
“We are here to monitor the enrolment and ensure the process is transparent and accountable.
Hajiya Saadatu Abdu Gusau expressed hope to avoid the challenges experienced during the first phase registration exercise.
The Principals of the two schools visited expressed appreciation for the monitoring visit and pledged to ensure their total support to achieve it success.
The monitoring team also included the Executive Chairman of the Education Quality Assurance Authority, the Executive Chairman of the Senior Secondary Education Board, the Deputy AGILE Coordinator, and the AGILE Communication Officer, Bashir Ahmad, along with the principals and vice-principals of the host schools.
