Standards Organisation of Nigeria SON has presented Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme MANCAP certificates to 31 locally manufactured products in Kaduna, affirming their compliance with national quality standards.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Kaduna State Coordinator of SON, Engineer Mamza Irimiya, described the certification as a recognition of hard work and commitment to quality.

He emphasized that certification is not a one-off achievement but an ongoing responsibility to uphold standards.

Engineer Irimiya urged manufacturers to innovate and maintain excellence, warning that non-compliance could result in severe consequences.

He added that the certification boosts consumer confidence and reflects positively on Nigerian-made goods.

Representing the Director-General of SON, the North-West Director, Mr. Isaac Omebije Onojo, stressed that standards are critical for business sustainability.

He warned that substandard products damage reputations and public health, while compliance leads to growth and trust.

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Business Innovation and Technology praised SON and the certified businesses, stating that the achievement reflects a strong commitment to consumer protection and economic development.

The event also introduced the Product Identification Scheme (PIS), aimed at supporting small businesses and uncertified products to gradually meet Nigerian Industrial Standards.

This mentorship-focused programme ensures quality even for products lacking full certification.

An exhibition of the certified products was held to showcase the success of the MANCAP initiative and its role in improving market-ready local goods.

Some recipients expressed appreciation to SON for guiding them toward quality improvement and pledged to continue producing safe, high-standard goods for Nigerian consumers.

Among the certified companies were Global Care Industry Ltd., Matrix Fertilizer Ltd., Euro Form, Simalox Paint and Decoration Services, and Al-babello Trading Company Ltd.

The MANCAP initiative, according to SON, is part of its larger mandate to support local manufacturing, ensure consumer safety, and promote economic growth across Nigeria.
