The National Population Census (NPC) Federal Commissioner in Kwara state , Alhaji Razaq Gidado has warned against extortion of applicants seeking to participate as supervisors or enumerators in the 2023 National population exercise.

Alhaji Gidado gave warning while addressing a cross section of staff of the commission, trainees and trainers in Ilorin, the state capital.

He expressed worry over the attitude of certain group of individuals who constituted themselves into a syndicate that extort innocent applicants.

Alhaji Gidado warned that anyone caught in the act will be prosecuted in accordance with the provisions of the law.

The national commissioner advised all applicants not to bribe or give gratification to any member of staff of the commission in the course of applying for the census assignment.

He assured all those that applied and qualified for the census job that they would be screened and engaged on merit.
