Kaduna State Commander of the Agency, Mr Umar Adoro

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency-NDLEA says all hands must be on deck to fight the menace of drug abuse in the society.

Kaduna State Commander of the Agency, Mr Umar Adoro stated this at this year’s United Nations day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking held in Kaduna.

Mr Umar Adoro who attributed the disappearance of ethical and fundamental principles of the society to drug abuse, appealed to stakeholders to join hands and put a stop to the menace for national development.

In his message to the event which was also read by the State Commander, Chairman of the NDLEA, Brig General Buba Marwa(rtd), said the agency had taken ten major drug barons out of circulation, while many more are on the agency’s watchlist.

He noted that from January to May this year, the agency arrested five thousand, three hundred and forty-one suspects out of which nine hundred and eighty-four have been convicted nationwide.

Brig General Marwa(rtd) expressed delight over the change in the dynamics of society’s response to illicit drug matters over the past seventeen months.

Highlight of the event was a road walk and a drama presentation on the negative effects of drug abuse by Kaduna State chapter of Actors Guild of Nigeria.
