Jigawa state government has reiterated its commitment to address the issue of human trafficking in the state. 

Governor Badaru Abubakar stated this while inaugurating the state task force on human trafficking at government House, Dutse.

The Governor who expressed concern over the activities of human traffickers said the state government would do its best to make the state human trafficking free.

Alhaji Badaru Abubakar therefore called on the state task force to be active in addressing the menace especially at the state border towns of the state.

Earlier, the Director General of the Agency Senator Bashir Garba Mohammed who was represented by the Director Legal and Prosecution Hamisu Hassan Tahir said the agency has rescued 16,277 victims since its inception in the last 18 years.

According to him, out of the number 14,474 were Nigerians from different parts of the states.

Bashir Garba Mohammed pointed out that 172 victims were from Jigawa state.

The state task force has the state commissioner of Justice, Dr.  Musa Adamu Aliyu as chairman, with representatives of Immigration, Road Safety, Police, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, Directorate of State Security as members.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the state Deputy Governor Mallam Umar Namadi, Secretary to the state government Alhaji Adamu Abdulkadir Fanini, Commissioners and Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Public relations Alhaji Habibu Nuhu Kila among others.
