Christian leaders in Kaduna State have thrown their support behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for the upcoming 2027 elections, calling for a more inclusive approach to governance and fair distribution of the benefits that come with democracy.

This endorsement came from a gathering organized by the Tinubu-Uba Sani Support Organisation (TUSO), where they also decided to create a national organization aimed at representing the interests of Christians across the 19 northern states.

The resolutions were shared in a communiqué following a meeting held in Ikara, Kaduna State.

The event drew participation from various Christian leaders and stakeholders from both Northern and Southern Kaduna, including representatives from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, local CAN chairmen from nine local government areas in Northern Kaduna, and members of the Southern Kaduna Leadership Elders’ Council.

Also present were chairmen from 63 Community Development Associations, the Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, the Political Counsellor to Governor Uba Sani, and Professor Dauda Ishaya, the outgoing President of Hausa Christians.

According to the communiqué, the attendees agreed to unite in their efforts to promote their shared interests, with religious and community leaders taking on crucial roles in voicing and pursuing the aspirations of Christians in the state.

The stakeholders emphasized that the proposed national body would extend their initiative beyond Kaduna, creating a platform for Christians throughout Northern Nigeria to advocate for their interests and encourage inclusive political engagement.
In explaining their support for Tinubu and Uba Sani’s re-election, the stakeholders pointed to what they see as the positive achievements of their administrations, including the nomination of a Christian deputy governorship candidate by the Kaduna State governor and the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences In Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, recent developments have shaped the stakeholders’ stance.

The communiqué highlighted that these individuals believe that re-election would allow both administrations to strengthen and maintain their ongoing initiatives at both the federal and state levels.
The group also committed to rallying Christian voters throughout Northern Nigeria, especially in the North-West, to support Tinubu and Uba Sani as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential and Kaduna State governorship candidates for the upcoming 2027 elections.
However, they made it clear that their political backing comes with certain expectations, including inclusive governance, fairness, and accountability. They emphasized that political leaders must ensure that the interests and aspirations of Christian communities are properly addressed, and that the benefits of democracy are shared fairly across Kaduna State and the broader Northern region.
The meeting also urged Christian political leaders to prioritize collective interests over personal ambitions, cautioning that internal conflicts could jeopardize the organization’s goals. Additionally, they stressed the importance of fostering stronger cooperation between Christian communities in both Northern and Southern Kaduna, pledging to ensure that neither side is left out in the pursuit of their common interests.
The communiqué was signed by Hon. Dr. Manzo Daniel Maigari, the Convener of TUSO and Executive Chairman of Kachia Local Government Area, along with Honorable Matthew Kaku, the Director-General of the organization.
