Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has nominated the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar to chair a stakeholder advisory committee on ways to tackle the security challenges bedevilling the state.

The Governor stated this to newsmen after an urgent closed door state security council meeting aimed at addressing the incessant security challenges in the area

He said the meeting was convened in recognition of the rising security challenges of the state and the need to bring together everybody, irrespective of their political or religious inclinations, to proffer solutions to the problem.

Tambuwal emphasized that bandits, kidnappers and other criminals, had subjected everybody to a difficult situation, hence, the need for a strategy to face the challenges.

He said they have collectively resolved to work together stressing that the committee would collate people views and recommendations in order to find lasting solutions to the challenges.

Those present at the meeting include former Governor Dahaltu Attahiru Bafarawa , Sen Aliyu Magartakada Wamakko, Ahmed Gusau former deputy governor, former and present national and state assembly menbers, Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, and district heads in the state.

Others in attendance were representatives of Nigeria Army, Immigration, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Correctional Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and local vigilant groups.
