The Kano State Government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs, has donated one cow each to six clusters of persons with special needs across the state as part of efforts to support vulnerable groups ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

 

 

The benefiting groups include persons with spinal cord injuries, albinism, leprosy,  visually and hearing impaired, and persons with physical disabilities.

 

Each cluster also received N20,000 as transport support.

 

Speaking during the distribution ceremony held at Nassarawa Children’s Home, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi, said the gesture was in line with the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to ensure vulnerable persons celebrate Sallah with joy and dignity.

 

 

She explained that the governor considered it necessary to extend support to persons with special needs and other vulnerable groups as part of his administration’s humanitarian efforts.

 

 

The Commissioner further disclosed that the state government also donated one cow each to Nassarawa Children’s Home, Remand Home Goron Dutse, Kwalli VVF Centre, and Tudun Maliki Torrey Home to enable residents celebrate the Eid festivities happily.

 

 

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the welfare, inclusion, and wellbeing of vulnerable groups across Kano State.

 

 

The Director of Persons with Special Needs, Dr. Binta Bala, commended the Commissioner for initiating the intervention and ensuring its successful implementation, while also appreciating her commitment to the welfare of persons with special needs.

 

 

Representatives of the six clusters received the cows on behalf of their members and expressed appreciation to Governor Yusuf and the Commissioner for their continued support and care for persons with special needs in Kano State.

 

 

They also offered prayers for Allah’s guidance, protection, and strength for the governor to continue serving the people.
