Determined to deepen the gains recorded across Southern Kaduna, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more transformative projects, stronger representation and expanded opportunities for the people if re-elected in 2027.
He also declared that, the next phase of his leadership would focus on consolidating development across education, healthcare, infrastructure, security and economic empowerment.
The senator stated this while declaring his intention to seek a second term in the Senate during the presentation of his stewardship report and inauguration of his campaign council in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, Nigeria.
Sunday Marshal Katung pledged to build on what he described as landmark legislative, infrastructural and human capital achievements recorded since assuming office in 2023.
Speaking before traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths, women and other stakeholders, Katung described the gathering as “a defining moment” for accountability and reflection, noting that the mandate freely given to him on February 27, 2023, remained a sacred responsibility.
He said despite insecurity, economic hardship and other challenges confronting communities across Southern Kaduna, the people had remained united and resilient, stressing that the district’s progress was a product of collective sacrifice and shared determination.
Highlighting his legislative achievements, Katung said he facilitated the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, with a College of Medicine in Manchok, describing the institution as a transformational project expected to stimulate economic activities and educational development in the area.
The senator also disclosed that a Federal Medical Centre had been secured for Kafanchan, noting that the facility would strengthen healthcare delivery and create employment opportunities across several local government areas in Southern Kaduna.
Katung further stated that he sponsored the Sickle Cell Disorder Research and Therapy Centres Bill, which he described as the first initiative of its kind in Africa aimed at establishing a national framework for the management of sickle cell disease.
He expressed optimism that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would assent to the bill once transmitted by the National Assembly.
